MHS Highlight: College Algebra
**
On November 12, MHS College Algebra hosted a unique and engaging event for the students. The class welcomed Premier Welding to the classroom to provide a practical, hands-on learning experience. This collaboration allowed students to step into the roles of engineers and apply the mathematical concepts they have been studying by constructing rollercoasters. For more of the story, check out the District Website for the full article.

It's the Tuesday Policy review. Today's Topic is the Tardy Policy:
***
It is the belief of Malad High School that being punctual is a critical skill students need to learn and demonstrate on a daily class-by-class basis. When a student is tardy to a class, it is disrespectful, disruptive to the educational environment, and it limits the tardy student’s participation time in the class. Being tardy is a chosen behavior. Plan ahead.
**
A student arriving late to class will be marked tardy. A student will be marked absent after the first ten minutes of the class period. If a student misses more than fifteen minutes of class (with or without a smart pass) at any time during class, he or she will be marked absent. Students who are tardy will be subject to the school’s discipline policies, beginning with Level 1 consequences.

The MHS Chapter of FFA is bringing back a classic! Donkey Basketball. It will be in April, but we want you to mark your calendar now. Get ready for some fun!

ISU is hosting an Associate Degree information night for all Parents on November 14, 2024, at 7:00 pm. You should have received an email with a link to the RSVP form. If you did not receive the email, please update your information with the MHS Office.

Did you know that Attendance and Student achievement are linked? Attendance Matters because Growth Matters! Check out the Attendance and Growth Bulletin Board in the MHS Commons the next time you come.
****
Currently, there is a challenge between classes to see who can reach 95% as a grade 10 times. The Sophomores are crushing it! Way to go! The grade that wins gets a prize. All grades have from now until Thanksgiving Break to hit that mark. The first grade to get there wins!
****
Regular attendance is key to success. It ensures you don't miss out on vital lessons, helps develop discipline, and fosters a sense of community. Every day at MHS counts towards your growth and future achievements!

We have outstanding programs at MHS headed by fantastic and dedicated faculty. Today, for our Wednesday Program Highlight, we are focusing on the Child and Parent Development Class taught by Ms. Shantel Tavoian. These students had the opportunity to visit USU's early childhood program and get some ideas for the playschool coming up in December.

Policy Review Tuesday! This week it is: Attendance for Athletics or Extra-Curricular Activities:
**
In order to participate, an athlete or extracurricular participant must be in attendance at least 4 periods the day of the event. (event is defined as a practice, game, or performance) (not including release periods) Students that sluff any period of the day will also be declared ineligible for the next scheduled activity they are a part of.
Situations with extenuating circumstances beyond the control of the student and their families, will be evaluated by the administration on a case-by-case basis. Whenever possible the parents should have the absence pre-approved by administration by an email explaining the circumstances of the absence at least 24 hours before the absence. (Illness, working, etc. are not considered as being unavoidable or beyond the control of the student or family.) This attendance rule applies to any group that represents the school. If a student participates in an event when they have not been in attendance for at least 4 periods then they will be declared ineligible for the next scheduled activity you are a part of.

A couple of weeks ago, MHS Students had the fantastic opportunity to participate in Career Workshops and a Career Expo. Students picked four classes to attend and listened to presenters talk about their careers. Please take a minute to swipe through the different careers. We are grateful for good people who take their time away from work to teach our students. Thank you, Kami Willie, for organizing a huge Career Fair and Expo for our MHS Students.
