Policy Review Tuesday: Field Trips & Activity Transportation & Regular Attendance
***
***
***
Field Trips: Students must be passing all classes and have a signed permission slip from their parents. They must also have approval from their teachers to participate in field trips. This includes college trips etc…
***
***
***
Activity Transportation: When participating in events sponsored by the school, the student is expected to ride the bus to and from the event. Emergency/special situations will be evaluated by the administration on a case-by-case basis.
However, the philosophy of the district is that any parent wanting to take their student home with them after an event should be allowed to do so providing that they do the following:
They are present to sign their student out on the bus roster with the designated coach after the event.
The district will not be responsible for the student after an event following the completion of the process described above. Students not following the rule will not be allowed to participate in sports the rest of the year.

***
***
Late-Work Policy: There will be a maximum one-week time frame (7 calendar days) for students to make-up or turn in any missing assignments, missing tests, missing projects, etc. from the original due date. This policy will apply to all classes at Malad High School. Teachers may deduct points or allow additional attempts at their own discretion. Teachers may also shorten the time frame at their own discretion as addressed in their class syllabi. Special consideration can be made by the individual teacher.
***
***
Academic Dishonesty: Students caught plagiarizing or cheating on an assignment will receive a zero on that assignment and will not be allowed to make up the assignment. They will also be subject to the consequences of the school discipline policy as a Level 2 serious misbehavior.

Policy Review Tuesday: Tardy Policy and Time out of Class & Attendance Matters!
***
Tardy Policy: It is the belief of Malad High School that being punctual is a critical skill students need to learn and demonstrate on a daily class-by-class basis. When a student is tardy to a class, it is disrespectful, disruptive to the educational environment, and it limits the tardy student’s participation time in the class. Being tardy is a chosen behavior. Plan ahead.
***
Tardies-: A student arriving late to class will be marked tardy. A student will be marked absent after the first ten minutes of the class period. If a student misses more than fifteen minutes of class (with or without a smart pass) at any time during class, he or she will be marked absent. Students who are tardy will be subject to the school’s discipline policies, beginning with Level 1 consequences.
***
Time Out of Class: Students must have a smart pass in order to leave class. Students will sign up in the counselor’s office for an appointment. They will be called out at the counselor’s convenience.
If students are out of class without permission, they will be counted as truant (see policy below) and not allowed to participate in a portion/all of their next scheduled activities (practice or competition).
These policies apply to classes being taught and grades applied for Malad High School credit. College concurrent enrollment classes are under the jurisdiction of the approved college syllabus.
